“And all of us, with unveiled faces, seeing the glory of the Lord as though reflected in a mirror, are being transformed into the same image from one degree of glory to another; for this comes from the Lord, the Spirit.” –  2 Corinthians 3:18
We are coming to the end of our summer journey of sabbatical – a summer of Building Our Spiritual Resilience; of Exploring Grief, Healing, and Becoming.  A summer of learning what it means to be the Beloved Community and digging deeper into our roots as Disciples, delving into what it means to be a covenanted people.  This journey has been taken in as many ways as there are individuals in our church! But the wonderful news and assured blessing is that we are all “being transformed into the same image from one degree of glory to another; for this comes from the Lord, the Spirit.”  Let us give thanks for this journey and give thanks for the Spirit that continues to work in each one of us, transforming and molding us into what God intends for us to be – a unique reflection of the glory of God.

As we take a moment to reflect on this summer journey, ask yourself: What spoke to you on this journey?  Where did you find resonance?  What made your heart sing?  And what will you take forward as we reconnect with Pastor Ailsa and share our experiences and dreams? Where is the Spirit leading you in re-imagining who we are and what we are called to do?

This moment is liminal.  We are on a border between now and what’s next.  We have opened our hearts, poured out our tears, nourished our souls, found time to dream, and now we are here awaiting the breath of the Holy Spirit to inspire and empower our notion of who we are and what we are called to do and be! Let us take a collective breath and hold onto our hats as we present ourselves to the God of limitless love as willing and ready for imagining next steps beyond what we might expect ……
May it be so!
